FALL 2019

UNDERSTANDING THE MANY DIMENSIONS OF WHITE IDENTITY:

POLITICS, POWER, AND PREJUDICE

This year Critical Connections and Karuna Center for Peacebuilding will organize ‘Understanding the Many Dimensions of White Identity: Politics, Power, and Prejudice’, a series that will explore the history, prevalence, and resurgence of white identity. The series will examine how this ideology has the power to shape violent movements, as well as the root causes, fears, and prejudices that allow it to exist in its less visible dimensions. Speakers will analyze the manifestation of white supremacy in recent elections and voting patterns, the pervasiveness of hate speech in social media, as well as making room to understand our own complicity in harmful systems and ideologies. Speakers will both discuss these trends and identify ways to address them.

Our series is made possible through the generous support of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

dialogues across the divides series

For our ‘Dialogues Across the Divides’ series, we will focus on topics such as national security, U.S. foreign policy, civil rights and liberties, as well as social issues that affect inter-communal relations between American-Muslims and the larger community. Our series is made possible through the generous support of the Community Foundation of Western MA.
